I just had a look today that I received two 'Valentines' on the Livejournal Community "Gyaru_Valentines".
I am really touched!! Thank you to both of you who wrote them~ <3

These are the two which I have been given over the last few weeks!

My answer: LOL NO >8D jk.
But thanks so much!

annd the more recent one:
I am honestly moved by it! If you're out there reading this blog, please talk to me - I'm not mean or stuck-up or anything, it's always still quite a shock that people regard me this way, but I also love making friends! ^____^

On another note, unfortunately I don't have a picture yet buuutttt~

MY PICTURE WAS POSTED IN SOUL SISTER VOL.5!!!

I am super pleased about it and I can't wait to get an issue of it for safe-keeping.

So Alex & I ate loads this weekend...

Why hello~!
Thank you to the few new followers of this humble blog! You will not go unnoticed <3

Right so, just another weekend update~
I know it's now wednesday, but my internet lately has been cutting out randomly...

Alex came to mine on friday and I cooked a little feast!
I made teokbokki (admittedly I made it a little too spicy), some Yubamaki &
served it with some Kimchi.
YAY!

This weekend was really important as we were planning certain events that are happening
this summer (I will announce it soon). It was nice to discuss things over food, even if it brought little tears to our eyes!

We're turning into food bloggers but lol, on saturday we went into town and as it was raining,
after buying a pair of trainers for meeeee, we went to Pizza Hut...
This is their Portabello Blue pizza on a deep pan base. Seriously, if you like Blue cheese,
we recommend it soooo much!! It's delicious. We did some more planning and then went for
a little shop around Brighton. But...

we ended up in Cybercandy and Starbucks... ;__; lol
JUST GUZZLING DOWN ALL THESE NOMMABLE ITEMS.
awesome multicoloured Peeps as it's near easter, and 1 out of 2 frappuccinos.
Nice photo Al'!

OH we found this super-cute Easter display in this t-shirt shop~

We wanted to go out for dinner and clubbing but we realised it was St. Patrick's day...
so also because it was raining even harder in the evening, we just settled on going for some
dinner at Pho - a Vietnamese restaurant. It's so healthy and delicious there.

om nom nom tofu and mushrooms~ <3

This is what we looked like. We ended up looking like we came out of a Sim-date-game.
Alex's shirt was awesome! It has these pretty flowers on the inside of the collar and cuffs!

Sunday came around and we partly-walked, partly-bussed into town again..BECAUSE

IT WAS THE CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL!!!!

Oh yes. It was very much a gastronomical delight~!
Alex had never tried a Macaron so I bought him a Violet one as floral ones are super yummy.

Really awesome two-man band dressed as pastry chefs were performing there!

Also bought a strawberry meringue. We split it in two and went on a little sugar high.

Well. That was our edible journey we took this past weekend.
What did all of you get up to?

How to make a Tea-towel Chicken....

SUCH A USEFUL TUTORIAL FOR EVERYONE TO TRY.

PLEASE POST PICTURES TO ME OF ALL YOUR CHICKENS.

1. lay your tea-towel vertically in front of you. I am using an old striped one so you can see better.

2. Roll the two sides in towards the centre. Make sure its not too loose, not to tight either.

3. Fold over so the rolls are on the outside.

4. Find the corners of the tea-towel on either side and 'pinch' the two sides together on each side.

5. Gently pull on both pinched corners and it should magically transform into a Chicken!! 8D

ENJOY

This past week ^_^

Hey everyone,

I wanted to give an update on what's been going down this week in my life.
Starting from last weekend, I saw my friend Ksara
and she helped me study with my Japanese.

We also went to an amazing Korean restaurant and had Bulgogi.

we also ordered our favourite, Teokbokki! and some dumplings. :)

This week at work went pretty smoothly, Thursday was my day off so I bought some bits in town!
 peach tea~! <3 LOOVVEE
I bought Crocs with Alice..... DON'T JUDGE US D:
Annndd some delicious things (forgot to show my nice pack o' Kimchi too) that I will be cooking for Alex this upcoming weekend. I bum Korean food lots. I eat at least something Korean every day recently (^^;)

Anyway, Saturday just gone, I got invited to a really nice dinner party for my Papa's birthday, and
also for him and his girlfriend to celebrate going to India!!
One of their friends had a Japanese student so they invited her along so we could talk which was really cute! (she's only 15!!)
Yuri and I. (MY FACE IS HUGE LOL)

Papa made everything completely from scratch, I only managed to take a photo of the delicious Tarte aux Pommes though!

During these few hours, I learnt how to make a Chicken from a tea towel! ROFL

and in the corner all evening was their beautiful cat, Dylan
He is SO TALKATIVE :D and only stops meowing if you stroke him for ages haha.

Sorry it was mostly pic-spam but It's been a nice, eventful week. <3

Gyaru & Sexuality rant (interesting read?)

I have been wanting to write about this for a while. So I hope some people will share my views, and that others will respect them and perhaps take part in a healthy debate?

This 'taboo' really grinds me down an awful lot in the Western/gaijin community.
I feel a lot of people, especially in the new generation, dismiss the fact
that Gyaru originally was partly an expression of Sexuality, trying to get
away from the pressure of Japanese society in the early 90s (and still now!).
This is one of the main reasons (apart from being so tanned) that Gyaru were
classed as "dirty girls".

I feel that because a lot of girls interested in 'girlier' fashion, who tend
to lean towards dressing in Liz Lisa etc, are now dominant in the west, finding
it easier to intergrate items into all outfits from western spring/summer fashion.
This style of Gyaru, which is undeniably popular all over the Globe, is still
considered 'sexy' in Japan. Because still in a lot of rural and traditional areas
of Japan, even if you bare your shoulders or a little too much of here & there,
you are considered a whore, and even if seen outside of work, can be fired from
your job just by reputation.
Over in the West, due to the dominance of sexy fashion taking influence from the Adult
Industry, most of us wouldn't associate something so cute and girly directly with sex.
Perhaps with looking younger, but because there are similar -but not quite "Gyaru"-
items in the Western fashion market, it's considered more the norm.

I have nothing against Liz Lisa, or those who dress in it (I have a few items myself)
but the main reason I came back to Gyaru was due to me losing weight and feeling
that I could wear something a little sexier and express that side of me that was,
admittedly, suppressed when I was wearing Lolita. I am not attracted to Lolita in
any sexual way, it was purely for my love of Period Dramas and historic horror films.

So much to my surprise that when I fully started wearing Gyaru again, the newer Gyaru
that were in the community where on the whole more frilly and girly. Either because
they had migrated over from Lolita or that they just generally liked the style. I was a
little thankful that elements of the older styles were still peeking through in
Tsuyome <3 and cool styles being more prominant like Rokku-kei etc; which appeal to
me in general.

Over this past year-and-a-bit we've seen another wave of change within Gyaru fashion trends.
Combining 'darker' items and themes, with club & gothic elements in tutuHA & Fernoopa;
breaking out of more of Japan's taboos with Mafia, Biker gangs and tatoos with OraOra-kei,
and obviously these styles are beomming more apparent and popular if they can have whole
magazines and publications on these sub-styles.

I know a lot of these blog rants get flamed, and I obviously hope not to anger anyone,
but I do get fed up of people constantly being slut-shamed and put down for dressing
in d.i.a or wearing a super push-up bras and jokingly grabbing their tits etc.
Fair enough that styles change, but lots of base elements of Gyaru are still prominant.
YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CONFORM IN A STYLE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE NON-CONFORMATIVE.

Perhaps at least in the girls' version of Egg, they have cut down on the sex-related articles
and funny comics. You still get them, but more so they appear in Ranzuki, and are still
ongoing in Men's Egg. Does anyone perhaps think that this is because they assume that girls
in Japan have been growing up with Gyaru and have read all the previous articles, or are
aware of the 'reputation' associated with Gyaru??

In all honesty, I'm assuming a lot of people will think because I 'haven't been around
for a long while' I would be ignorant. I apologise for perhaps thinking this, but
I have been into and dressing Gyaru for a very long time. May not have ever been the best,
certainly not the slimmest, or the most popular bla bla bla, but I do take the things
that I like with open arms, and for a lot of girls (and guys) to be this ignorant
and callous towards others is beyond me.

People go on about following a "Gyaru Lifestyle". It is possible, obviously the materialistic
items are a little more difficult to get hold of, but if you plan on following one be prepared
to accept & admire the roots, know your shit, to be surrounded by diet & fad-conscious girls, to get
hit on by pervs and to know how to defend yourself, to perhaps get shit jobs because of how
you dress and most importantly - learn to accept hate and just have fun with it all.

Readers. For the love of anything Holy....

GET WILD AND BE SEXY.
